About OCMP

Choir Directors Robert Sirico (St. John’s) and Nicholas Reeves (Holy Trinity) with St. John Theologian’s Rector Fr. Johnathan Ivanoff at Parish 25th Anniversary Banquet

You have reached the ‘About Us’ Page of the “Orthodox Christian Music Project”. The OCMP was founded in the summer of 2009 when Fr. Jonathan Ivanoff, Rector of St. John the Theologian Orthodox Church in Shirley NY commissioned a sacred composition to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the sounding of St. John’s church.  Unfortunately, there was not enough time to fulfill the commission and it was decided that St. John’s would host its first ever professional Christmas concert to be premiered on December 5th, 2009 on the feast-eve of St. Nicholas immediately after Vespers in the Holy Saint’s honor.  Since that time, Robert Sirico has been studying advanced composing techniques under tutelage of Dr. Nicholas Reeves, who is the conductor and artistic director of the OCMP.

The ‘Orthodox Christian Music Project’ is a not-for-profit charitable organization and continues to expand its musical repertoire as well as its affiliations with local artists and is actively engaged in charitable efforts for various social issues such as disaster relief and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope to see you ALL at the next concert.  It is an honor and privilege to offer you the fruit of my labor.  I sincerely hope that my work touches your hearts and souls, and brings you peace.
